Practical anatomy in the context of yoga and Ayurveda

Touching Anatomy - Discover the Body in Motion

Touch, feel, touch, press, listen, listen, turn: the tools in our anatomy/physiology course are our senses and mindfulness.
In anatomy we look at the concepts and structures that communicate with each other directly or indirectly. It is fascinating to observe what happens inside us when we lift an arm and at the same time lift the foot on the opposite side. But we also learn to read continuing emotional stresses from body postures and, conversely, that we can even evoke altered feelings by aligning the body appropriately.
In order to intensify a massage or yoga session, to be alert to injuries, to know limitations, we need a sound knowledge of the most important anatomical structures. However, looking at pictures does not allow us to really understand the body on different levels. Only in playful movement does the vivid image emerge, only when touching can we truly grasp the different structures.
The course thus creates a 3D view of the body and its connection to space. Ayurvedic and yogic anatomy complexes are grasped and experienced with comparative anatomy. Concepts like dhatus or koshas become understandable when the physical and mental planes can be observed under different aspects.
