Vastu Shastra

Ayurveda for living and living spaces

In Vastu Shastra, we understand rooms as a second body shell that is alive and closely connected to the soul and nature of its inhabitants. The concept of Vastu-Shastra, which has been used in a similar way in India and neighboring Asitatic countries for centuries, assumes that the energy of a room influences the well-being of the people who live and work in it. Factors such as the orientation of a house and its land according to the cardinal points and the proportions of entrances or rooms play just as much a role as the colors and materials used. And just as in Ayurveda, in Vastu Shastra a balanced coexistence of the 5 elements at work in a room plays a central role in promoting the health of its inhabitants through a vibrant matrix. As part of a Vastu room therapy, the Vastu expert therefore primarily checks the distribution and balance of the elements in the room and then balances the qualities in the matrix of the room with the help of restructuring the room and life functions, proportions and colors as well as targeted control of the prana flow.

This is possible because the elements are assigned to both the cardinal points and the doshas (the three biodynamic energies known in Ayurveda). For example, the correct placement of houses within a property and the correct placement of rooms can support certain qualities and forces or a person's individual constitution. For example, a bedroom in the south-west ensures restful sleep, while an office in the north-west promotes communication and sales. Even dosha disturbances can be balanced to a certain extent by placing a bedroom in a balancing position in the Vastu matrix. Health can be promoted by the space around us. As such, it is an intrinsic therapeutic tool in the traditional Ayurvedic system of healthcare in India.

Why our outer shell affects our prosperity and health more than we suspect can be learned and experienced in the workshop on Vastu-Shastra - traditional concept of architecture and design of India. This unique seminar explains the basic principles of Vastu Shastra living space design, as the benefits of this ancient science are worth integrating into modern architecture and healthcare.
