Vata woman

The Vata type

People with a dominant Vata dosha are usually very slim, wiry and creative. Vata types think and speak quickly.

Vata translates as air, and in our bodies it is synonymous with the nervous system, breathing, blood circulation and overall energy potential. In addition to their quick thinking, strong enthusiasm and tireless drive to create, Vata types are also prone to nervousness, insomnia, circulatory problems, poor concentration, dry skin and internal stress.

External factors such as cold, windy weather, constant noise, too little sleep, travel and food additives such as emulsifiers and preservatives can also lead to Vata-related complaints.

Pitta woman

The Pitta type

People with a strong Pitta are powerful, energetic and passionate people. They are decisive, intelligent, strong-willed and prone to emotional outbursts.

Pitta translates as bile and corresponds to the elements of fire and a small amount of water. Pitta has its physical counterpart primarily in the digestive and enzyme systems, as well as the overall metabolic power. Pitta types often remind us of the image of a small volcano: they are fiery and hot, full of enthusiasm and bubbling life energy. But this high voltage can also easily discharge into outbursts of rage or cynical criticism. People with a high proportion of Pitta are usually very successful at work or in competitive sports and like to take on responsible positions in society.

Kapha woman

The Kapha type

Kapha types are very steady, caring, loving and security-conscious people. They have a persistent constitution, are often a bit slow and tend to have complaints such as obesity, inflexibility, inner phlegm, as well as inflammation and mucus in the sinus and lung area.

Translated, kapha means phlegm. It corresponds to the elements of earth and water and is represented in the body by the lymphatic and immune systems and bone structure.

Kapha people love daily sensual pleasures and like to react to stress, anger or inner conflicts with excessive snacking.

Ayurveda Dosha Test

Determine your constitution type

At the center of Ayurvedic healing and life science is the constitutional determination of the doshas. Every person is unique and has an incomparable interaction on the physical and psychological level.

"To be healthy" in Ayurveda means to be in inner balance with the doshas. Diseases arise from a dysbalance of the physical and mental constitutional forces.

The individual basic constitution (Prakriti) is described on the physical and mental level by the quality of three Doshas. These are called Vata, Pitta and Kapha and represent biological forces which control our organism on the structural and functional level. Thus, from an Ayurvedic point of view, our constitution is formed from a unique mixture of Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

This results in pure Vata types, Pitta types and Kapha types as well as mixed types such as Vata-Pitta, Vata-Kapha, Pitta-Kapha and the Tridosha type Vata-Pitta-Kapha.

As a reminder

Vata, Pitta, Kapha and their qualities

Ayurveda distinguishes three basic forces, so-called doshas, which determine the constitution of each person. These basic forces are called Vata, Pitta and Kapha and are in a different balance of power to each other. Each of us has an individual constitution, and everyone is naturally dominated by one or more of these basic forces. The dominance of one or the other force shapes our personality, our appearance and our lifestyle, but also our tendency to certain physical and mental ailments.

Kapha people love daily sensual pleasures and like to react to stress, anger or inner conflicts with excessive snacking.

The mixed types

The Kapha-Pitta type

If there is one constitution that promises power, it is the Kapha-Pitta constitution. The body is strong and robustly built, the immune system remains stable and the endurance and perseverance in any activity is excellent. With an almost inexhaustible energy, these people pursue their goals unflinchingly and let (almost) nothing stop them. Health and endurance characterize the body. Challenges due to too much work, wrong food and stress only become noticeable after a few years of intensive depletion. The mind of the Kapha-Pitta person is also characterized by clarity and calmness, astuteness and patience, determination and composure.

Personalities in business and politics

Thus, very many charismatic personalities from political and business life have a Kapha-Pitta constitution, which helps them to get through the strenuous managerial life with a lot of travelling, irregular meals and strenuous competition in one piece.

The Kapha-Vata type

People with a Kapha-Vata constitution are extremely interesting personalities who always reveal new surprises. The dominance of the opposing elements air, earth and water shows itself in versatile qualities on the psychological and physical level. On the one hand, the Vata part gives lightness, creativity and volatility. This can show itself, for example, in a slender physique, fast speech and inner restlessness. The Kapha part, on the other hand, shows itself through heaviness, stability and moisture. For example, the skin may be very thick, prone to water retention and cellulite, or the person may be strongly concerned with security and traditions. The variations in how Vata and Kapha express themselves are unlimited and give versatile interests and abilities.

Sociable, curious and social

People with a Vata-Kapha constitution are very sociable, popular and communicative. The Vata portion is open, curious and loves conversation, while Kapha is very caring, social and welcoming. The ideal mixture for an exciting conversation and good friendship.

The Vata-Pitta type

People with a Vata-Pitta constitution are made for the modern lifestyle. They are attractive, fun-loving and lively, have an alert mind and can communicate very well. Ideally, the positive qualities of Vata with its joy of movement, creativity and quick perception are paired with the determination, intelligence and leadership quality of Pitta. The body is slender and powerful, the hair fine and soft and the whole personality radiates a vital force and positive dynamics.

Disharmony of both body energies

Unfortunately, in most cases, however, it is not only the positive qualities of the doshas that are mixed. Many people with a Vata-Pitta constitution suffer from the disharmony of both body energies when they are disturbed, which often manifests itself in nervousness and restlessness (Vata), inner tension and irritability (Pitta), sleep disorders, headaches, skin blemishes and a sensitive stomach.

Movement is in the foreground

On the physical level, a Vata-Pitta constitution focuses on movement because both Vata and Pitta are very dynamic doshas. Vata-Pitta people are usually very athletic and have a good metabolism. The physique is delicate yet energetic. The skin is often sensitive and reacts sensitively to chemical substances. The enjoyment of sweet foods is usually highly valued in childhood, along with a preference for music, painting and other fine arts. The desire for a healthy and spiritually oriented lifestyle can also be very pronounced.

TriDosha: Vata-Pitta-Kapha type

Should you have what is called a Sama-Dosha constitution, composed of almost equal proportions of all the elements, you are one of the chosen few born with great natural balance in body and mind.

Most people develop disorders from an imbalance of the three doshas during their lifetime, such as the sleep disorders of vata, the irritability of pitta, and the water retention of kapha. However, few people have all the doshas evenly distributed in the positive from the ground up, resulting in a very stable and favored personality structure.

Body, mind and soul are truly in balance

A balanced Tridosha constitution is noticeable by the fact that there are no extreme constitutional traits. The body, mind and spirit are truly in balance and all the traits and functioning are present in sufficient measure. Thus, most Vata-Pitta-Kapha types have a medium build, normal uncomplicated skin and good metabolism. On the psychological level, they have the creativity and quick perception of Vata, the charismatic charisma and determination of Pitta and the gentleness and composure of Kapha.
